You might be thinking that a good winter watch is one that can weather the elements like rain, sleet, and snow. And while that would certainly help, it doesn’t have to be the defining factor. Below is an eclectic list of watches that you’ll find on the wrist of the Orient Watch USA team this season, from complex designs to basic staples.
Bambino Version 4 – We’ve said before that even though winter can be dreary, your wrist doesn’t have to be too. The Bambino Version 4 is a prime example of how you can fit yourself with a burst of color. It features the signature domed architecture and unique strap choices, including a camel-colored suede and a blue-tinted leather.
Pilot's Watch – The original model disappeared for a few years, but during this time we carefully developed its successor. We incrementally beefed up the case, upgraded the movement, and modified the dial to look a little less cluttered. The result is a cleaner design that’s easier to read and a robust watch that can throw its weight around.
Mako II – The tried-and-true watch with a rich fifteen year history means that it’s seen a thing or two. The Mako II improved upon the original in a couple of areas including the mechanical movement, the lume, and the click count on the bezel. It kept its 200m water resistance and screwed-down crown. To the Mako, winter is just another season of the year.
Sun and Moon Version 3 – This is easily the most visually complex piece in our collection. A closer look reveals a multi-leveled dial, guilloche-styled finishes, and concentric circling, all of which gracefully envelope three useful movement complications: day, date, and 24 hour (Sun and Moon) counter. For something so seemingly over the top, it’s simply timeless and a whole lot of watch.
Kamasu – One of the newer kids on the block as far as our Sport collection is concerned. But if its pointed, teeth-like hour markers are any indication (“Kamasu” translates to barracuda in Japanese), it should weather a storm easily. It includes our latest movement, standard Nemoto Luminova, 200m water resistance, and a tough sapphire crystal for good measure.
