The Twenty Year History of This Beloved Diver

For twenty years, our flagship diver model has remained a steady constant in our collection. The OG, the old reliable, the one that "started" it all. It was the Kamasu before the Kamasu, and pre dates even the Orient Bambino line. It's the watch that piqued the interest of countless enthusiasts and even more watch collections. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, we're taking a look back at the history of such a storied collection.

2004 - The EM65 model is introduced with its signature dual crown set up, and powered by the workhorse 46943 movement. This 41.5mm stalwart eventually became a fan favorite, with the watch community bestowing the nickname "Mako".

2009 - This elusive reference in yellow is introduced as the first exclusive model for the US market. It had a small re-release in 2014 in celebration of the 10 year anniversary. Legend has it that many are still on the hunt....

2010 - The line up was expanded with a new classic-inspired diver design. It was promptly nicknamed the "Ray" by fans of the brand and has served as a good alternative to the original.

2010 - As larger watches became more and more popular, the community asked for a slightly bigger diver. This 44.5mm wide reference was introduced, and "XL" was added to the name. Orient's diver catalog was starting to take shape.

2015 - In the year prior we reached out to the community for input on a new diver watch. The feedback was immense, and this USA-exclusive line up was born as a result. The improvements? Sapphire crystal, Nemoto Luminova, 120-click bezel, solid end links and drilled lug holes.

2016 - True to its dedication to the development of the mechanical movement, Orient upgraded nearly every model with next generation calibers. This diver line up was upgraded to the F6922 movement that added hand-winding and hacking functionality. It also removed the second crown. Shop AA02 Collection

2023 - The third iteration of this storied collection was released last year, complete with a familiar design but in four new, never before seen colorways. They're also upgraded with a sapphire crystal and a solid bracelet. Shop AA08-3 Collection
