The Orient Star Standard-Date - DV02003W

In addition to the already released black carbon fiber-dial Standard-Date, Orient Watch USA is proud to announce the release of the Orient Star Standard-Date DV02003W in white. This particular model features a classy white stamped stripe design on the dial, and always, the quality and finish is what you always expect from Orient Star.

First off, the white-dialed model is a stark contrast from its black-dialed counterpart. While the carbon fiber dial made the other piece sporty and casual, the white striping on the DV02003W is more classic and dressy. Each indentation in the pinstriping is so precise; the excellent craftsmanship is very, very apparent even at first glance. The way the light moves across the dial is simply elegant. The stainless steel markers fit the dial nicely, and the date window is a wonderful bonus. The triangular hands are luminescent, and in our initial tests were actually very bright after a short exposure to light.

The case is polished at the top and bottom and brushed at the sides to break up the sheen. The crown is signed with the Orient Star logo. The bracelet is a fine combination of polished and gently brushed stainless steel. The polished parts are very smooth in order to reinforce the classic motif of the watch. The clasp is double button fold-over and proudly features the Orient Star logo engraving.

The case measures at 40mm in diameter and 11.6mm thick. The lug width is 22mm and the lug-to-lug width is 47mm. All Orient Star Standard-Dates feature an exhibition case back, and the movement is fully decorated with an Orient Star logo on the oscillating weight. A little bit about the movement: The Standard-Date is powered by one of the newest calibers, the 40751 movement. This movement is self-winding, hand-windable, and features the highly coveted hacking function that allows synchronization for higher accuracy.

The Standard-Date is the first series to employ Orient’s SAR (Super Anti-Reflective) Coating. So what’s the big deal? Anti-reflective (AR) coating is applied to both surfaces in order to suppress reflection by 99%, which paves the way for superb visibility. The multi-layer coating on the crystal improves the scratch resistance, more so than conventional coating. Lastly, SAR Coating includes stain-proof coating, which increases the water repellant level as well as stain resistance.

In all, the Standard-Date is literally one of a kind. From the self-winding, handwinding and hackable movement, all the way to the SAR coating, the Orient Standard-Date possesses the same quirks that watches sold for 10 times the price have. The black and white versions are both $880 MSRP, but with one of our 30% off promotional codes, it will come to about $615.
