The Orient Aviator FEM7A005B0 has been a staple of the Orient Sport collection for many years. It’s simple yet masculine design has been very successful (which is perhaps why it has endured this long). This military inspired piece is not just a run of the mill Orient watch – it’s a robust tool that is more than adequate for everyday wear.
The thing that strikes us the most about the Orient Aviator are the large Arabic numerals. It’d be foolish to say that you couldn’t read the time on the watch. The muted black dial plays a great role in defining the amount of contrast of the piece. The oversized light green markers are fully lumed, and we do admit that the lume is very, very impressive. You’ll also notice that all three hands are luminescent as well. The day and date are featured at the three o’clock position. The bezel also features easy to read black numbers and the design is toothed in a way for easy navigation and turning. The ratchet is there, but is smooth enough not to cause a stir.
The case is 43mm in diameter and is rated to 100m. The standard crown is also screwed down by design. The FEM7A005B is powered by Orient’s 469 caliber movement which is one of the most continuously manufactured movements to date. In fact, over 100 million 469 caliber movements have been made. It certainly is one of Orient’s more robust movements, and one of the most accurate out of the box.
