In Review: Orient ET0N00 Defender

Still a relatively new style, which was released earlier this year, the Orient ET0N00 Defender series offers 5 distinct tactical, or military, style watches.

As you can expect coming from Orient, Defender is equipped with tons of features at a very affordable price. At just $250, let’s see what this watch is all about.

Multi-Eyes Movement

Defender features a special multi-eyes movement. You’ll notice that Defender’s dial includes a 24-hour “eye” to the upper left and a day “eye” toward the center right of the dial. These “eyes” add interest and complication (in addition to convenience) to Defender, and such features are not available on every Orient watch.

Defender’s mechanical movement, Orient Caliber 46B40 to be specific, also offers a date calendar at the 6 position, and 3 watch hands (hour, minute, and seconds) that move independently of the hands located in the 24-hour and day eyes.

As with most all other Orient watches, this particular movement offers approximately 40-hour power reserve. Though you’ll notice that the Defender does not include a power reserve indicator on the dial.

Unique Style

As mentioned, Defender is available in 5 distinct styles. These include a cream (our favorite), black, grey, or navy dial and/or a stainless steel or genuine leather watch band.

What’s particularly desirable about Defender’s style is the matte finish on both the stainless steel case and the dial. This finish adds an interesting touch that avoids being too flashy. Additionally, this type of finish resists glare and is anti-reflective, making it easier to read.

Defender’s readability is further enhanced by bold, blocky indices, bold watch hands, and a large-sized case (42mm without crown).

Finally, despite its tactical design, Defender, depending on the dial color, could work well with professional wear as well as casual, weekend wear.

Other Features

What else is good about this watch?

Defender offers 100m water resistance, which is fair. This water resistance protects the watch during swimming, skin diving, snorkeling, and other water sports. The watch’s screw-down crown and caseback add to its water resistance as well as general convenience and safety.

And speaking of safety, Defender’s watch bands, whether stainless steel or genuine leather, are equipped with safety clasps or buckles to ensure a secure fit that won’t easily come loose or snap off while wearing.

Lastly, like all of Orient’s watches, Defender comes complete with a 1-year international guarantee, so you can buy with confidence.
