Vintage timepieces are in fashion nowadays, from vintage sport watches to dive and dress timepieces. Many are looking to modern watches to satisfy their passion for retro styling and modern convenience. The newest iteration of the Bambino builds upon the classic styling of the original and with a mid century design infusion.
The elements which caused the Bambino’s popularity remain the same, the same domed crystal protecting the (redesigned) domed dial, which is held by the same stainless steel case. As a dress watch, the watch is rated for an appropriate 30m and uses a combination of brushed and polished finishes which play wonderfully with light and reflections. The use of brushed finished sides gives the watch a modernized look, visual depth and interest.
The FER2400CN0 deviates from the original Bambino in a few key areas, which when taken as a whole creates an almost new modern vintage timepiece. The dauphine hands have been replaced by a much slimmer style of dauphine hands for a delicate look. And on the CN, when struck by light, shine bright blue.. Stainless steel Roman numerals have applied to the dial in exchange for the tapered indices for a very sophisticated look. Encircling the roman numerals is a railroad style minute track against a cream colored dial, both features prominently seen in watches from the 1950’s and 60’s.. Moving outside the case, an onion style crown is used for adjusting the watch.
Versatility and functionality remain the same. Vibrating at 21,600 per hour inside is the ORIENT in house caliber 48743 movement with the date functionality at the 3 o’clock position, designed for daily wearing. Measuring at 11.8mm thick and 40.5mm in diameter, the Bambino is sized for modern tastes without becoming too large and still easily slips under a shirt cuff. Mounted to a classic brown leather band, the Bambino is a true classic watch.
